Co-WERQ: Find Housing Together

Free housing search support in Portland, fourth WEDNESday of every month.

Finding housing in Portland is mostly paperwork, and the paperwork is where people get stuck. The waitlist that makes no sense. The portal that logs you out. The form asking for two years of pay stubs you don't have. The denial you're not sure you can appeal.

Co-WERQ: Find Housing Together is a monthly online session where people bring exactly that, work it out with the room, and then finish it.

How the 90 minutes goes

Tool of the month, 15 minutes. One housing portal, waitlist system, or resource, demoed live.

What you're working on, and what's in your way, 10 minutes. Everyone names both. Chat is fine if you'd rather not speak.

Ask the Room, 10 minutes. Open problem-solving on what just got named.

Work block, 35 minutes. Timer up, working together. Optional buddy room.

Wins and what helped, 10 minutes.

What people bring

Rental applications. Subsidized housing and Section 8 waitlists. Housing portals. Income and employment documentation. References. Appeals after a denial. Accommodation requests. Moving cost research.

What this is not

This isn't legal advice and it isn't case management. If you're dealing with a landlord about your rights as a current tenant, or whatever your situation - we’ll point you towards the best resource.

Who it's for

Anyone in the Portland metro with housing paperwork to do. Trans-led, built with trans and gender-expansive people in mind, nobody turned away. Guest list hidden.

Details‍ ‍

Fourth Tuesday monthly, 5:00 to 6:30pm Pacific. Online. Free. Cameras optional. Live captions on. Only the tool demo is recorded.
